Defend the Constitutional Right to Hunt, Fish and Trap
Jim Doyle was an early public supporter of the proposed constitutional amendment to hunt, fish and trap. Doyle sees this not only as a protection for the sporting public, but also as needed protection for animal and fish habitats.
As Governor, Doyle will make sure this measure is brought to the ballot to ensure this right is protected now and for future generations.

No guns for convicted felons, via background checks
Jim Doyle created a hotline in the Department of Justice to allow gun dealers to check the backgrounds of their customers. Working together, gun dealers and the Department of Justice have stopped over 3,700 convicted felons
from buying handguns illegally. The hotline is so effective that other states have copied it and U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno recognized it as a national model.
